Anderson, Director Parks, Recreation and Forestry DATE: June 19, 1986 RE: City Puppet WAgnn As you are aware, the City has budgeted $4,000 for the purchase of a vehicle for a new puppet wagon truck. The existing City puppet wagon was purchased for $600, seven years ago and is pre- sently in extremely poor mechanical condition. The vehicle we were looking for was a combination puppet wagon and City Public Works water/sewer truck. It has been st.aff's intent to find a vehicle that can he meet both the existing puppet wagon needs as well as utilized during the other ten months of the years ac an emergency water/sewer vehicle. TO dial cild, we have purchased a one to❑ stet `.'an from fare HPat- ing and Air Conditioning which was previously used as their gen- eral repair truck. The vehicle is a 1979 Ford one ton which is equipment with storage bins, fully insulated and large enough for people to stand up in the back. The original asking price for the vehicle was $4,500 and staff indicated that we only had $4,000 budgeted for the vehicle and we were able to secure it for that amount. we are currently having the vehicle modified to meet our puppet wagon needs including windows and new sound sys- tem. The additional expense will be budgeted from the City of New Brighton who we currently share our puppet wagon program with. Following the completion of the summer puppet wagon pro- gram which ends the first week of August. The vehicle will he repainted and modified as a general Public Works vehicle.
