RESOLUTION NO. 2054 ^� v <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />RESOLUTION OF COMMENDATION AND APPRECIATION TO <br />NEW BRIGHTON POLICE OFFICER GARY JONES <br />WHEREAS, on the morning of July 6, 1986 in the City <br />of Mounds View, a Williams Pipeline Company pipeline <br />catastrophically ruptured spewing unleaded gasoline into the <br />streets of the City which then exploded engulfing a three <br />block area in flames; and <br />WHEREAS, in response to a call for emergency <br />assistance, New Brighton Police Officer Gary Jones <br />approached the scene and at great personal risk determined <br />the location of injured residents, requested ambulances to <br />the specific site greatly improving response time, crossed <br />Woodcrest Drive, even though gasoline in the street was <br />still on fire, dodged a downed power line and provided <br />medical assistance to the injured; and <br />WHEREAS, Officer Jones, in the midst of the fire and <br />explosion, continued to provide assistance by evacuating <br />residents and checking homes to ensure all residents had <br />evacuated; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Mounds View wishes to recognize <br />the courageous actions of Officer Gary Jones. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council <br />of the City of Mounds View on behalf of the residents of the <br />City of Mounds View commends Officer Gary Jones for his <br />courageous and unselfish actions and offers our heartfelt <br />appreciation. <br />Adopted this 28th day of July, 1986. <br />ATTEST: <br />Mayor Linke <br />Councilmember Blanchard Councilmember Haake <br />Councilmember Hankner Councilmember Quick <br />Clerk -Administrator Pauley <br />
