It 1, . <br />RESOLUTION NO. 240 <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />10� COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE. OF MINNESOTA <br />RESOLUTION OF COMMENDATION AND APPRECIATION TO <br />STATE. TROOPER GUS WEHMEYER <br />WHEREAS, on the morning of July 8, 1986 in the City <br />of Mounds View, a Williams Pipeline Compan,, pipeline <br />catastrophically ruptured spewing unleaded gasoline into the <br />streets of the City which then exploded engulfing a three <br />block area in flames; and <br />WHEREAS, upon hearing of the emergency condition <br />while monitoring radio calls, State Trooper Gus Wehmeyer <br />approached the scene, assessed the situation and <br />disregarding his own personal safety braved huge flames, <br />dense smoke and downed power lines to evacuate the homes on <br />Long Lake Rnad in the greatest Immediate danger; and <br />WHEREAS, thanks to the actions of Trooper Wehmeyer to <br />give warning and directions to the residents additional <br />injuries were doubtlessl} avoided; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Mounds View wishes to recognize <br />the courageous actions of Trooper Gus Wehmeyer. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, RE IT RESOLVED that the City Council <br />of the City of Mounds View on behalf of the residents of the <br />City of Mounds View commends Trooper Gus Wehmeyer for his <br />courageous and unselfish actions and offers our heartfelt <br />appreciation. <br />Adopted this llth day of August, 1986. <br />ATTEST: <br />Mayor Llnke <br />Councilmembe B anc ar COUnr;]member Haake <br />Councilmember Ilan ner Cnuncilmember Qu;c <br />�.lerk-Administrator Pauley <br />
