MEMO TO: Clerk -Administrator and City Council
FROM: Director of Public Works/Community Development
DATE: OCtOtar 2?, 1986
SUBJECT: 1986 SANITARY SEWER MAIN-ENANCE
On September 22, 1986, the Mounds View City Council awarded the
subject project to Solidification, Inc. for a not to exceed price
of $15,422.00. Part of this project involves spraying roots in
the sanitary sewer with chemicals so that the roots will shrivel
and die up to 5 or 6 feet away from the pipe. The chemicals are
most effective when the roots are drawing in nutrients which
occur when leaves are on the trees. The unseasonably cold
weather we have received have caused the leaves to fall off of
the trees earlier than normal.
I recommend that the City postpone the root treatment portion of
the project until 1987. Attached please find a letter from
Solidification, Inc. indicating that they will conduct the root
treatment program in the Spring of 1987 at the same prices.
RECOMMENDATION: I recommend approval of this item so that the
auditor ntinue to be satisfied.
SWT/bac
