City of Mounds View <br />PROCLAIMING THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER TO BE EPILEPSY MONTH <br />IN THE CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />WHEREAS, there are more than 100,000 Minnesotans with <br />some form of epilepsy; and <br />WHEREAS, Epilepsy is the second most common neurologi- <br />cal disfunction or physical impairment, not a disease but a <br />disorder of the nervous system; and <br />WHEREAS, sixty percent of those persons who have <br />epilepsy,are elementary school children or younger children <br />which is approximately one child in every second classroom; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, early diagnosis and attention to the social <br />and neurological aspects of epilepsy will afford people <br />better control; and <br />WHEREAS, there continues to be a need for improved <br />education and more information regarding public attitudes <br />toward understanding and accepting those persons with <br />epilepsy. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that I, Jerry Links, <br />Mayor of the City of Mounds View do hereby proclaim the <br />month of November as EPILEPSY MONTH IN THE CITY OF MOUNDS <br />VIEW, MINNESOTA and encourage the residents of our City to <br />increase their awareness of the needs of those who have <br />epilepsy. <br />Jerry Links, Mayor <br />
