MEMO TO: Clerk -Administrator and City Council <br />FROM: Director of Public Works/Community Developmenjtv <br />DATE: November 25, 1986 <br />SUBJECT: PETITION FOR STREET LIGHT ON THE EAST SIDE OF GROVELAND <br />ROAD BETWEEN 8343 AND 8335 GROVELAND ROAD <br />Staff has received a petition from 8 property owners on Groveland <br />Road. They are petitioning the City for a street .fight on the <br />east side of Groveland Road between 8343 and 8335 Groveland <br />Road. Attached please find the following: <br />1. Petition received 11/14/86 <br />2. Plat map <br />3. Address map <br />4. Letter to Authur Zielinski dated 11/7/86 <br />5. Street light installation policy of City <br />The petition meets the requirements of the City policy with one <br />exception. The policy states that the petition shall include <br />signatures of consent of the property owners directly effected by <br />the final location unless it it determined by the City Council <br />that the requested street light is in the interest of preserving <br />the health and safety of residents of the area. The property <br />owner at 8334 Groveland Road would not sign the petition because <br />he did not want to have light coming in his windows according to <br />Mr. Zielinski. The property at 8334 Groveland Road is directly <br />across the street from he proposed street light. <br />RECOMMENDATION: I recommend declaring that the proposed street <br />light is in the interest of preserving health and safety of the <br />residents in the area and install a hood to keep the light away <br />from the house at 8334 Groveland Road. <br />SWT/bac <br />C <br />
