TO: Mayor & Council <br />FROM: Finance Director -Treasurer Brager <br />DATE: December 11, 1986 null <br />RE: RECOMMENDATION FOR APPOINTMENT OF SMAMIM SABUR AS <br />FULL TIME CITY EMPLOYEE AND A RECOMMENDATION FOR <br />SALARY INCREASE <br />Shamim Sabur began employment with the City as an Accounting <br />Clerk on March 10, 1986. In September her probationary period <br />with the C°.t} nas extended to December 10, 1986 as her <br />performance was rated as progressing. At that time Finance <br />Department staff concluded that additional training was <br />necessary due to her absence from the work force for a period <br />of four years. Since that time her performance has improved <br />substantially and was rated as fully satisfactory in a <br />performance review conducted December 2, 1986. Staff <br />recommends that Shamim Sabur be appointed a full time employee <br />of the City of Mounds View. <br />Shamim began her employment at a rate of $7.00 with the <br />understanding that salary consideration would be given at the <br />end of six months. Staff recommends that Shamim be given an <br />increase of $0.25 per hour effective September 10, 1986 and an <br />additional $0.25 per hour effective December 10, 1986. The <br />position was budgeted at $7.50 per hour, therefore there are <br />sufficient budgeted funds for her proposed salary. At the <br />present time full time secretarial rates paid by the City <br />range from $7.86 to $8.80 per hour. Under the circumstances <br />this proposed increase seems reasonable. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve the attached <br />appointment of Shamim Sabur as a full <br />authorize a salary increase of $0.25 <br />September 10, 1986 and an additional <br />10, 1986. <br />DB/ds <br />resolution approving the <br />time City employee and <br />per hour effective <br />$0.25 effective December <br />
