MEMO TO: MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: CLERK-ADMINISTRAT R <br />DATE: SEPTEMBER 7, 1988 <br />SUBJECT: MAMA - Local 49 (Public Works Joint Bargaining <br />Agreement) <br />As you know, the Metropolitan Area Management Association <br />(MAMA) has been negotiating with I.U.O.E. Local No. 49 <br />representing the City of Mounds View's Public Works <br />employees since last year on a two-year renewal of the <br />previous contract which expired on December 31, 1987. As a <br />result of an extensive negotiating process and intervention <br />of a state mediation, a settlement has been reached which is <br />new being presented to you for your app <br />settlement calls for the following. <br />1. 1988 Wage Rates - The wage rates for job classifi- <br />cations Maintenance Worker IT and Maintenance Worker <br />III to be raised by 1 and 1/2 percent to $12.28 and <br />$12.79 per hour effective January 1, 1988. Also, <br />each employee to be paid a lump sum payment equal to <br />2% of the employee's base pay rate for all normally <br />scheduled work hours payable in lump sum installmentE <br />on or after City approval of the contract and an or <br />as close to December 15, 1988 as practicable. <br />The Maintenance I starting rate to be raised to $9.03 <br />per hour. At this time the City has no employees <br />classified under the Maintenance I classification. <br />2. 1989 Wa_ 9_e Rates - The base wage rate for all job <br />claasifications to be raised by 1.5 percent effective <br />the first payroll period in January 1989 and all <br />employees to be paid a lump sum payment for all <br />normally scheduled work hours equal to 2 percent of <br />the employee's bane pay rate. Payment of the lump <br />sum to be made to three installments on or about <br />Ap it 15, 1989, August 15, 1989 and December 15, <br />1989, <br />3. Insurance - The City will contribute towards health <br />and .ife insurance an amount equal to the City will <br />pay for non-management/non-essential employees or <br />$185.00 per month, whichever is greater. In the case <br />of the City of Mounds View the City non -management/ <br />non -essential employees are receiving a $187.50 per <br />month benefit, therefore, our Public Works employees <br />covered under this contract will receive the same <br />amount. <br />By mutual agreement with the employee, the City may <br />�- contribute $15.00 per month of the health insurance <br />benefits described above for dental insurance. <br />
