j <br />�Y LEAGUE <br />C A/�I (E 183 University Avenue East <br />I LLAGU St. Paul, Minnesota 55101 <br />OF LOCAL CAL GWERNMENT. s %j, RRpAg SUPPORTING <br />SPEED SKATING RINK/MULTI-USE FACILITY <br />CAPITOL COUNTY <br />OF MINNESOTA WHEREAS, in 1982, the Metropolitan council concluded <br />there was a need for a four hundred meter artificially <br />refrigerated outdoor speed skating rink in the Twin Cities; <br />Arden Hills and, <br />Falcon Heights WHEREAS, in 1984, the City of Roseville submitted a <br />Gem Lake proposal to the Metropo3itan Council to locate a apeed <br />Lauderdale skating facility in Roseville; and, <br />Little C�n_da WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council, in a report to the <br />++aVlerodd Legislature, recommended the Roseville site located north <br />of Larpenteur Avenue and east of Dale Street; and, <br />.No•. .ids View <br />New Briyh[:n WHEREAS, this site is strategically located in the <br />metropolitan area with excellent access from I-35W, I-35E <br />North Oaks and STH 36; and, <br />N. St. Paul WHEREAS, in 1984, fourteen of the eighteen cities in <br />Ramsey County Ramsey County supported the City of Roseville's proposal Rosnille �- <br />for a speed skating facility; and <br />St. Anthony WHEREAS, the speed skating facility could also be used <br />St. Paul for other purposes and would benefit the metro area, State <br />of Minnesota and region; and, <br />Shoreview <br />WHEREAS, the largest concentration of Minnesota speed <br />Vadnais Heights skaters is in Ramsey County with seven of the eight <br />ivhire Bear L.ke Minnesotans on the Olympic Team from Ramsey County; <br />While Bear Township NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ramsey County <br />League of Local Governments supports the City of <br />Roseville's proposal to locate a speed skating/multi-use <br />facility in their community; <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Ratasey County League <br />encourages Ramsey County legislators to support legislation <br />which would provide for the construction of the facility. <br />Adopted by the Ramsey County League of Local <br />Governments this 19th day of October , 1988. <br />President -President <br />
