a <br />V <br />MEMO TO: MAYOR AND CITY COUN <br />FROM: CLERK-ADMINISTRATO <br />DATE: OCTOBER 28, 1988 <br />SUBJECT: 1989 SUPPLEMENTAL FIRE INSPECTION BUDGET <br />Attached please find the proposed 1989 Supplemental Fire <br />Inspection Budget from Firc Chief Ron Fagerstrom. The <br />Purpose of this budget is to fund the Fire Department's <br />costs for providing fire inspection service to the City of <br />Mounds View pursuant to the fire inspection protocol <br />approved by the City in 1987. <br />In discussing the proposed budget with Fire Chief Fager- <br />strom and Blaine City Manager Don Poss, Blaine also <br />contracts for fire inspection services, it was agreed that <br />supplemental space would be needed for fire inspection <br />services due to the current crowded conditions in Fire <br />Station #1 and the workloTkds being experienced by these <br />inspectors in providing services to both cities. For that <br />reason: included in the fire inspectic a budget costs For <br />remodeling existing space into an office area fo- the inspectors, the addition of computer and telephone <br />equipment, and purchase of office furniture. These expenses <br />have beer proportioned between the two cities based upon the <br />projected need for fire inspection service in 1989 and will <br />be billed at a flat amount to each of the two cities upon <br />the Fire Department incurring those expenses. The hourly <br />wages for the <br />based upon hours rof1service rprovidedetoatheaCitylof Moundsd <br />View. <br />This proposed supplemental budget for fire inspection <br />services in combination with the budget adopted for the <br />general provision of fire protection by the Department, is <br />in compliance with the adooted 1989 City budget and, <br />therefore, staff recommends approval of said budget at this <br />time.— <br />RECC.MIENDATION <br />Staff recommends approval of the 1989 Supplemental Fire <br />Inspectio- Budget in the amount of $5,091.00. <br />DFP/MJS <br />
