She pointed out the p
for picnics as wellas other
resentedtwouldeaddato thnd e felt
the first two options P
activity potential, whereas the third option would
remove it, along with the soccer field. She also
questioned how much impact there would be on the trees
on the designation ofa and
pointed
communityout
park.City
could lose
the
Mr. A,yaz stated he agreed, that option three would
be a noisier location and would take away the soccer
field.
Public Works Director Minator stated the gas station
site would be favored over other
utwo,
se specificallythatty
because of the loss of property
with the other two options, and the noise involved.
Councilmember Blanchard stated she had received adcal
l.
last week from someone on the Library
not feel the Council has to make a definite recommenda—
tion or decision.
Councilmember Quick stated they could possible place
the building to the center, and
dld ait istu mostto the Council
to decide the impact Y
Councilmember Wuori stated that the original site
offer did not include the gasoline station but was
requested ty the Library Board and they are aware
of the tax loss to themselves as well as the City.
The soccerfield is a poor site due to parking
conflicts with City Hall and the Bel -Rae Ballroom.
The picric and volleyball area would result in
the loss of two heavily used recreation areas and
the only mature trees at City Hal' Park.
The ballfield site would provide adequate room,
put the Library closer to picnic and play facili-
ties without damaging any mature trees. The draw-
back would be the loss of an adult baseball field that
adds revenue to programming.
Park Director Saarion pointed out if a softball field
is taken out, it would eliminate 16 teams of up to 20
players each, and considerable revenue from their fees.
She added It would not help much to add lights
other fields, as there is a to PM curfew anyway.
0
