e demolition, clearance of material and debris 1 <br />o site cleanup, preparation and grading <br />e seeding, sodding, planting trees and shrubs <br />o landscaping timbers, planting islands <br />e repair of roofs, foundations <br />e siding, windows, doors, paint, lighting <br />*sidewalk repair or construction <br />o exterior and interior rehabilitation of historic structures <br />o picnic tables and grills <br />o restrooms, walkways, parking <br />o fencing, signs <br />o drinking fountains <br />e outdoor lighting <br />e garbage receptacles <br />e cleanup of river banks <br />e flag posts and kiosks <br />GRANT PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS <br />Each project component must support me of the three goals (i.e. cleanup, <br />beautification and/or community improvement projects) of the grant program and be <br />coordinated with a planned, locally sponsored celebration to be held in 1990. <br />Applicants must provide for public comments on the proposed Celebrate 1990project. <br />For cities and towns, public comment must consist of an official public hearing. The <br />public hearing must: l) be advertised in the official newspaper two weeks in advance <br />of the hearing; 2) be conducted in the evening hours and in a convenient location; and, <br />3) describe the proposed project and solicit citizen comments. <br />For Indian tubes, local community improvement or development organizations, public <br />comment must consist of a ;public meeting that also must::) be advertised in the local <br />newspaper two weeks in ad1mrice of the meeting; 2) be c3nduct:d in the eve.» ng hours <br />in a convenient location; and, 31 describe the proposed project and solicit citizen <br />comments. A copy of the public hearing or public meeting advertisemznt and minutes <br />must be submitted with the application. <br />In the formative stages of the project, the applicant should designate an individual as <br />the primary contact person for the project.'Iiris person would then be responsible for <br />overall project coordination prior to the submission of the application and the <br />:implementation of the project after the grant is awarded. <br />The grant program requires that a community provide three dollars for every one <br />dollar of grant funds requested. These local match dollars cannot include other state <br />o� program funds. Local match dollars could include federal, local and private funds or <br />fa in -kind services such as volunteer labor, donation of equipment time, and materials <br />n <br />
