MEMO TO: MAYOR AND COUNCIL <br />FROM: MARY SAARION, DIRECTOR <br />PARKS, RECREATION AND FORESTRY <br />DATE: AUGUST 3, 1988 <br />SUBJECT: SECOND QUARTER REPORT <br />PARKS, RECREATION AND FORESTRY DEPARTMENT <br />RECREATION PROGRAMS <br />New programs offered and implemented this summer include: <br />- BaskeLbali for Beginner- <br />- Beach Bumming <br />- Domino's Team Tennis <br />- Mounds View Summer Gymnastic Camp <br />- Women's Golf Lctgue <br />- Horseshoe League <br />Teen table games was offered but cancelled due to lack of interest. <br />PAR.': PROJECTS <br />Projects achieved in the parks included: <br />- Re -roofing and painting the picnic shelters at City Hall <br />Installation of four drinking fountains in neighborhood parks <br />Repair of Greenfield Park bridge <br />Finished the installation of portable toilet enclosures <br />- Performed playground equipment inspections <br />�-' - Painted playground equipment <br />- Daily preparation of athletic fields <br />- Regular schedule of trash removal and park building clean-up <br />ADMINSTRATION PROJECTS <br />Staff submitted the following reports, papers, grants; <br />- An extensive packet of information regarding recreation activities <br />offered through the City of Mounds View requested by "Friends of the <br />Parks" to be used ftr a comprehensive survey of Ramsey County/St. Paul <br />recreacion services. <br />- LAWCON grant application for Silver View Park development. <br />- Budgets for: Cable TV, Recreation Activity, Recreation, Park <br />Improvement Fund, Lakeside Park, 'rorestry. <br />- Preparation for two City Newsletter editions. <br />- Nomination application for a Citizens Citation Award for the Pinewood <br />PlaygrounJ Committee/PTA. <br />- Organization and implementation of "Festival in the Park". <br />- Preparation of Parks and Recreation Commission packets and Cou;.,il <br />information.. <br />- Lakeside Park re -development meetings, and research into project costs <br />and feasioility. <br />U <br />
