MEMO TO: MAYOR AND COUNCILMEMBERS ��ym <br />FROM: MARY SAARION, DIRECTOR <br />PARKS, RECREATION AND FORESTRY <br />DATE: SEPTEMBER 23, 1988 <br />SUBJECT: CELEBRATE MN <br />I attended the workshop meeting held Wednesday, September 21 regarding the <br />Celebrate MN program and grant application opportunity. <br />Here is some information you need to know: <br />1. The project must be accomplished in 1989. <br />2. The project must be incorporated in a celebration event in 1990. <br />3. The grant match is $1.00 match to every $3.00 spent; a 1-3 ratio. <br />4. Grant recipients must purchase two $85.00 Celebrate MN signs for display <br />at the project site. <br />5. Project monies cannot be already budgeted. <br />6. A public hearing must be scheduled to ensure public participation. <br />7. A project must he one of these three criteria: <br />a. Beautification. <br />b. Clean-up. <br />c. Community improvement. <br />Here is a list of eligible projects: <br />1. Demolition, clearance of materials and debris. <br />2. Sits c13an-up, preparation and grading. <br />3. Seeding, sodding, planting trees and shrubs. <br />4. Laniscaping timbers, planting islands. <br />5. Repair of roofs, foundations. <br />6. Siding windows, doors, paint, lighting. <br />7. Sidewalk repair or construction. <br />8. Exterior and interior rehabilitation of historic structures. <br />9. Picnic tables and grills. <br />10. Restrooms, walkways, parking. <br />11. Fencing, signs. <br />12. Drinking fountains. <br />13. Outdoor lighting. <br />
