MEMO TO: Mayor and City Council
FROM: Public Works Foreman 90 -
DATE: December 13, 1988
SUBJECT: REQUI;ST FOR ELECTRICAL WORK FOR MAINTENANCE GARAGE
For the primary reasons'of safety for employees and production,
there is a need for electrical work to bedone in both the old
and new sections of the Public Works Garag-i. Although the new
shop addition received corsiderble thought and planning, some
situations and work zones could not have been anticipated;
therefore, resulting in the need for more easily accessible
outlets. The practice of running extension cord's to a particular
project or a vehicle halfway across the shop is neither a sate
nor convenient situation. Throughout the past year we have
experienced many overloads on circuts when one or more hand tools
or welder is working in % given area at the same time.
A brief overview of the work requested to be done would include
welv
ding area for the olt euse cof hand rtools, woutlets located ron center
bears in the shop for use of equipment that cannot be driven into,
a stall and a few other electrical outlets placed where we are
currently using extension cords that are in violation of OSHA
regulations.
I have received two verbal estimates for the work to be done.
One from Lundell Electric who is not available to do the work
within our time frame and one from Bacon Electric who would be
available almost immediately. Bacon Electric has quoted me an
estimate of $2,300 to $2,500 depending upon labor costs. If we
were to assit them with the work we could lower the cost:
Funds for this project would be divided between Water Account
#700-4121-170 and Sewer Account #730-4121-170.
MU/BAC
Li
