Mounds view City Council N A P <br />Regular Meeting <br />Jerk/Administrator Pauley explained the request for <br />ezoning must be submitted to the Planning Commission, <br />and after they have dealt with it, it would then go to <br />the Council. He added the Council could discuss it at <br />the same time as the Planning Commission, butthey <br />of <br />would still have to follow the step by step process <br />the zoning code. <br />Mr. Deissner asked how the Council felt about B-3 <br />zoning for that area. <br />Councilmember Hankner replied that while they could <br />give individual opinions, they would have to go <br />through the public hearing process and gather input <br />from all sources. <br />Mayor Linke closed the regular meeting and opened <br />the first ppblic heraing at 7:16 PM. <br />Park Director Saarion explained Minnesota will be <br />hosting the summer Olympic festival games in 1990, <br />and the State of Minnesota is trying to promote <br />projects that would provide an opportunity for the <br />Cities and metropolitan areas to complete projects <br />to spruce up their communities. <br />®Minnesota has $700,000 for grant money"to be awarded <br />to various projects, and the purpose of the public <br />tibacing is to choose a project and get the grant <br />application filled out. Letters were sent out to <br />schools, churches and civic groups, and 14 sub- <br />missions were received back, which the Council has <br />narrowed to 4. <br />Park Director Saarion reviewed the four proposals, <br />listing the material costs, community involvement, <br />equipment rates, the City's contribution, and the <br />proposed celebration to go aith each one. <br />Mayor Linke closed the public hearing and reopened <br />the regular meeting at 7:29 PM. <br />It was the concensus of the Council that they would <br />like to go with the proposal for construction of a <br />picnic shelter at Silver view Park.. However, since <br />groups other than the City car" submit proposals, it <br />was suggested that Pinewood PTA be contacted to see <br />if they would be interested in submitting a proposal <br />for the <br />schools County <br />Councilmembertriangle <br />agreedboulevard <br />their <br />approach <br />FPTA and offer the paperwork already prepared by the <br />City. <br />December 12, 1988 <br />Page Three <br />6.
