CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br /> OFFICE OF THE MAYOR <br /> PROCLAMATION FOR ARBOR DAY AND EARTH DAY <br /> (P <br /> TREE CITY USA <br /> WHEREAS, in 1872, J. Sterling Morton proposed to the Nebraska Board of Agriculture <br /> that a special day be set aside for the planting of trees, and <br /> WHEREAS, This holiday, called Arbor Day, was first observed with the planting of more <br /> than a million trees in Nebraska, and <br /> WHEREAS, Arbor Day is now observed throughout the nation and the world, and also <br /> WHEREAS, Earth Day is an annual event on which day, events worldwide are held to <br /> demonstrate support for environmental protection, and <br /> WHEREAS, each year, Arbor Day is celebrated on the last Friday in April, and Earth <br /> Day is observed every April 22; and <br /> WHEREAS, Trees and forests improve our physical health by cleaning the air, reducing <br /> exposure to the sun's UV rays, and decreasing temperatures during the summertime; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, Forests create high-quality drinking water by acting as a natural filter; and <br /> WHEREAS, in 50 years, one tree provides $62,000.00 worth of air pollution control; and <br /> WHEREAS, Trees and forests improve our mental health by reducing stress and <br /> increasing concentration; and <br /> WHEREAS, Getting a daily dose of trees is healthy for all Mounds View Residents and <br /> all Minnesotans; and <br /> WHEREAS, Minnesotans pay a special tribute to rural and community trees and all the <br /> natural resources, and dedicate themselves to the continued vitality of our state's <br /> forests. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, I, Zach Linstrom, Mayor of the City of Mounds View, do hereby <br /> proclaim the following: <br /> 1. Tuesday, April 22, 2025, as "EARTH DAY". <br /> 2. Friday, April 25, 2025, as "ARBOR DAY". <br /> in the City of Mounds View, and I urge all citizens to celebrate Earth Day and Arbor Day <br /> and support efforts to protect our trees and woodlands, including planting trees to <br /> promote the well-being of this and future generations. <br /> Given under my hand and Seal of the City of Mounds View, this 14t" day of April, 2025. <br /> (SEAL) <br /> Zach Lindstrom, Mayor <br />
