National COUNTDOWN 2001 <br />$1111COUNCIL Formation is <br />Underway <br />COUNTDOWN 2001 is making plans to convene a <br />conference that will establish a National 2001 Council to <br />link .ogaber networks of people and Organizations workirig <br />,award a better future in key Woe arms such as education, <br />Peace, environment, and international developmenL 77e <br />National 2001 Council will encourage creation of <br />Community 2001 Councils, which will tackle these priority <br />Lm s at the local level. It wiil communicate and rnordinate <br />tam -of -the -century activities and celebtatiau in a manner <br />that would encourage them to have substance and integrity. <br />Joining ns in planning this conference ate Robert <br />McNamara, Dr. Rushwonh Kidder of the Chistiaa Science <br />Monitor, Dr. Michael Houk --of the University of Maryland <br />Baltimore Campos, 7ltwdre Gordon of The Futm,—%Group, <br />Ambassadorlohn W.
