MEMO TO: Mayor and City Council ® FROM: Public Works Foreman Ulrich /L^%//J// <br />L <br />�r^ DATE: December 14, 1986 <br />SUBJECT: PURCHASE OF SPARE TIRE AND WHEEL RIM FOR CAT LOADER <br />With the use of our new loader for snow plowing it is imperative <br />that we purchase a spare tire in the event of a blowout or a tire <br />being cut during the snow removal operations. If this type of <br />-mishap would occur, the prob?ble down time and emergency repair <br />call could closely offset the initial cost of this spare. During <br />the summer we were renting a loader from C. W. Houle Cunstruction <br />and cut a tire during the excavation of Oakwood and Greenfield <br />Parks. This occurred around mid -morning; by the time we were <br />back in operation it was early afternoon. I would like to remind <br />you that this was during normal working hours. By purchasing a <br />spare tire, thus being prepared for an unforeseen flat tire, we <br />could in ail probability be back in operation within an hour. <br />Prices are as follows: <br />1 New Wheel Rim <br />1 Rim Flange <br />_j 1 Ring Lock <br />Total Wheel <br />1 20.5 x 2S Michelin Tire <br />i <br />Mounting <br />TOTAL <br />1,160.00 <br />124.00 <br />14.80 <br />$ 1,238.80 <br />$ 1,032.81 <br />25.00 <br />$ 2,356.61 <br />I am recommending this purchase be made after January 1, 1989 and <br />co use in the Capitol Equipment Account (4700-4121-703) for the <br />purchase of the spare wheel. <br />MU/BAC <br />
