® MEMO TO: Mayor and City Council <br />FROM: City Planner Herman <br />DATE: January 11, 1988 <br />SUBJECT: RESETTING OF PUBLIC HEARINGS FOR ORDINANCE 40S. <br />452, 453 and 454 <br />Staff requests that the Council reset public hearings for the <br />above three ordinances because notices were not received oy the <br />New Brighton Bulletin in time for publication 10 days prior to <br />the hearing. <br />Staff would like the Council to consider the idea of setting <br />public hearings four weeks in advance for planning matters. At <br />present, notice of publication must go to the New Brighton <br />Bulletin before the Council sets the public hearing. if the <br />hearings were set four weeks ahead, the notification to the <br />newspaper could go after the Council decision and be published <br />the following Wednesday. I believe this woiuld assist Staff in <br />getting out the mailings required by Code for public hearings. <br />This additional time should eliminate the rescheduling of <br />hearings because of improper notice. <br />KJH/BAC <br />
