F�OTF hiss+on Statement and Goals <br />STATEMENT OF MISSION: <br />The Environmental Quality Task Force will investigate, <br />analyze, report, and make recommendations on issues directed <br />to it by the city Council in order to: <br />1) Advise the council, other commissions and committeez, <br />and the City staff on environmental matters <br />2) promote pollution control <br />3) protect the environment <br />The issues to be studied will include: the overall <br />environmental management situation as rand the to storm <br />to swoter, <br />flood plain, and wetland management; <br />proposed plans and actions that would either cause or resolve <br />identifiable environmental problems. <br />I. WATER <br />a) IdFntifY potential sources of groundwater pollution (suck <br />and residences) in and arcund <br />as gas stations, businesses, <br />Mounds View. <br />b) Study Mounds View's wetland inventory and learn about the <br />practices of wetland management, flood plain management, and <br />stormwater management. <br />c) Study the relation between precipitation and city water use. <br />II. LAND <br />a) Investigate and report on the extent of dumping on "open <br />spaces" and learn how to improve, preserve, protect, and <br />make more of these "spaces". <br />b) Investigate and report on the effectf r the land in <br />industrial, and other uses on the quality <br />Mounds View and its bordering cities. <br />c) Learn about the potential hazards of underground <br />titan soand <br />construct a :.is* of the types, q Y <br />underground tanks in Mounds_ View. <br />d) Learn the differing defintions of hazardous waste materials <br />and then investigate the extent of the use and transport of <br />these materials in and through Mounds View. <br />
