We recommend, however, that the City <br />take steps to provide evidence of compliance in the public officials conflict of <br />interest area. To provide evidence, we recommend that a letter of representation be <br />received from all public officials stating that he/she has read the applicable statutes <br />and that ro such conflicts a'xist (or that such conflicts be disclosed). We are <br />available :o assist the City in this procedure. <br />Financial Management Requirements <br />;luring 1983 and 1984, the City upgraded its internal office automation abilities. <br />The primary areas of improvement are as follows: <br />• Remote data entry of the prime financial data including general ledrer, <br />utility transactions, and payroll. <br />• Addition of anrd processing capabilities. <br />• Automatio;+ of budget process. <br />• Remote access to Pamsep County property and voter ve7istration records. <br />Financial znal;:sis through the use of computerized worksheets. <br />• Uee of electronic cash registers. <br />Use of microfiche. <br />In 1985, the City approved a computer study to determine the current and projected <br />0 computer automation needs of the City. A change in systems would require a review of <br />internal controls of the City. <br />
