r41� <br />MEMORANDUM <br />Memo To: Mayor and City Council Members <br />From Ric Minetor, Director of Public Works/City Engineer <br />Date April 24, 1989 Ir7a,^%� <br />Subject: Restrictions on Lawn Watering and Outdoor Use of Water <br />The Environmental Quality Task Force is recommending an Odd/Even <br />restriction with a complete ban between noon to 4:00 p.m. This <br />would apply to sprinkling lawns, gardens, and recreational uses of <br />a continuous supply of water (i.e. "slip n slides" or running <br />through sprinklers). <br />These restrictions would not be applied to newly sodded lawns, <br />root feeders (or bubblers) for trees, IdripI irrigation systems, <br />or filling of small wading pools (8 foot diameter or less and <br />less than 1 foot deep). <br />A permit for use of water not covered above could be obtained by <br />request to the Public Works Director and would be subject to <br />conditions as imposed by the Director. There would be no fee for <br />E' the permit; however, the permit could be denied if there were <br />previously approved permits which would result <br />20,000 gallons of estimated use. <br />The Public Works Director would retain authority to modify these <br />restrictions if conditions of water use and pumping capacity <br />dictated the need. Additional restrictions would take effect as <br />soon as publicized on the City Bulletin Board and on cable <br />television and approved by the mayor and clerk -administrator. <br />I recommend adoption of the attached resolution. <br />
