Fire Department Activity Report <br />June 1-30, 1989 <br />Page 4 r <br />June 18, 1717 hours Stations 1, 4 and Deputy Chief Mahaffey responded to a <br />report of a mobile home fire at 2017 Stratford. Engine 16 arrived and found <br />smoke coming from the home at this address. 16's crew laid their own feeder <br />line and a 1 1/2" line to the inside of this home to look for the fire. <br />After our initial search failed to find any fire, the crew checked the oven <br />and found a candle wrapped in a towel (which was burning) and removed it from <br />the home. Our job then consisted of ventilating the home. <br />June 21, 0851 hours Stations 2, 1 and Dist-ict Chief Skeate responded to a <br />mobile home fire at 9528 Taylor Stre?t. Engine 2 arrived and found a working <br />fire at this address and laid their own feeder line and an 1 1/2" <br />firefighting line. Engine 16's crew laid a second 1 1/2" line into the <br />building to search for possible victims and back up 2's crew. Engine 1's <br />crew ventilated the building and assisted in overhaul. The cause of this <br />fire has been determined to be a cigarette left unattended in the back <br />bedroom. Damages are estimated at $18,000 to the home and contents. <br />June 22, 0339 hours Stations 4, 1 and District Chief Hawke responded to a <br />house fire at 4824 - 108th Lane. Upon arrival Engine 4 found fire cooing <br />from the roof of a house under construction. They laid 2 - 1 1/2" lines <br />simultaneously, one to the rear of the house, and the other to the inside of <br />the house. Engine is crew laid a feeder line to Engine 4, and a 2 1/2" line <br />wyed to an 1 1/2" line with applicator pipe to the inside of the house to <br />help extinguish this hard to get at fire. Ladder 9's crew set up ground <br />ladders and helped in pulling ceiling. With slot of hard work and <br />determination we succeeded in putting the fire ont. The cause of this fire <br />has been determined to be a lightning strike. We were on the scene for 2 1/2 <br />hours. Damages are estimated at $50,000. <br />RF/jb <br />enclosure 1 <br />No <br />
