MEMO T0: Mayor and City Council <br />FROM: City Planner Hren <br />DATE: August 10, 1989 <br />SUBJECT: TACO BELL SIGN PLAN AMENDMENT <br />Taco Bell has submitted a request to add a 24 square foot reader <br />board to the freestanding sign. Please refer to Attachment A, <br />Freestanding Sign Plan. <br />The reader board will have messages that periodically will be <br />changed. This is not a flashing and/or moving sign. The message <br />will be fixed letters. <br />The additional signage is still within the allowable signage for <br />this property. <br />Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) also has a freestanding sign which <br />is allowed and does not exceed the height and area standards. <br />The KFC signs are being done through a different contractor. To <br />date, no sign or building permit applications have been <br />submitted. <br />The signs on both sites include: <br />Taco Bell �. <br />Quantity Area <br />Freestanding 1 120 S.F. <br />Directional 3 @ 9 S.F. 27 S.F. <br />Wall 3 @ 11.25 S.F. 61 S.F. <br />One combination Taco Bell and KFC directional sign. <br />Kentucky Fried Chicken <br />Kentucky Fried Chicken har: submitted a spec sheet on their signs <br />but have not come in for permits. The specs show what could <br />happen regarding signage. <br />The maximum potential is as follows: <br />Quantity Area <br />Freestanding 1 112 S.F. <br />Reader Board 1 40 S.F. <br />Directional Signs 3 @ 7 S.F. 21 S.F. <br />The ordinance allows 340 square feet of area per side with a <br />maximum height of 35 feet.
