Mounds View City Council <br />Regular Meeting July 24, 1989 <br />------------------- Page Eight <br />---------------------------------------- <br />Mr. Perron stated he felt 33' would take up the <br />tennis courts and ball field. He stated he felt 15, <br />would be enough. <br />Alice Frits, 8072 Long lake Road, pointed out the <br />closest emergency vehicles would cone down Highway <br />10, and if they are cut off, minutes do count. <br />Mayor Hankner reviewed comments that have been made <br />in the past several meetings, both from the residents <br />and developer. <br />Councilmember Blanchard stared the Council must <br />think about the entire City, with the health, safety <br />and welfare issue, and not just one neighborhood. <br />This road extension has been part of the Comp Plan <br />for several years, and there is an opportunity to <br />Put it in at this time, and the Fire Department has <br />said it is important for emergency access. <br />Mayor Hankner stated she has a real concern about <br />the extension, and she is not totally convinced it <br />is absolutely necessary. She added the wetland is <br />important, and it is not functioning in the way it <br />should be. <br />Councilmember Blanchard pointed out the residents by <br />Quincy Street had the same problems and concerns at <br />the time their street expansion was proposed, but <br />those pecole have come to find their fears have not <br />been realized. <br />Councilmember Iluori pointed out disconnected sections <br />of streets create more problems than anything, and it <br />is very important to get emergency vehicles through <br />without delay. She staled she is very much in favor <br />of the extension. <br />Motion/Second: Blanchard/Quick to approve the wetland <br />alteration permit for the extension of Woodale Drive, <br />and approve the extension of Woodale Drive. <br />4 ayes 1 nay Motio <br />n Carried <br />Mayor Hankner voted against the motion. <br />Boyd Paulu, of BRW, Inc., project engineer on the <br />. Continued <br />project, reviewed the Droposed reconstruction of 16 Consideration <br />County Road J. He exalained the County has of Proposal <br />received comments and requests for a considerable to Reconstruct <br />amount of time to improve the roadway.
