Mayor and City Council
August 16, 1989
Page 2
A sample billing is attached. The past billing is shown as
"Previous B/F". The amount last paid on account and the date
paid is next. Balance forward represents any amount that is
unpaid from previous billings. The current billing for each
service is printed next. For water, the present reading (590 in
the example), the previous reading (559), and usage (31) are
printed. Days represents the billing period, in this case 6/30 -
03/31. The amount due for each service is printed under "Billing
Changes". Sewer service is a fixed amount each quarter for
residential customers. The billing period is also printed for
sewer service.
Message lines are at the bottom of the bill. Three lines are
used each billing to advise of the due date and that a late fee
will be added after the due date. One messags line of 40
character may be changed each quarter.
Staff has received approximately 25 calls about the billing
format since converting to CSI's utility billing softt•:are in
1986. That number is less than 1$ of our customers. All calls
were about how to read the bill. After an explanation the
typical response was, "Oh, I see now. Thank you".
As is the case with most packaged software, "what you see is what
you get"; i.e. these programs are sold as is and are designed to
appeal to a large number of users. Programming CSI's current
rate for custom programming is $75.00 per hour.
Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact
me.
DB/BAC
Attachments
