46 <br />0 <br />0 <br />MEMO TO: MAYOR AND CITY COUNC <br />FROM: CLERK-ADMINISTRATO <br />DATE: OCTOBER 9, 1989 <br />SUBJECT: AQUATICS COORDINATOR POSITION <br />Attached to this memorandum please find a memo from Mary <br />Saarion proposing a change in the Aquatics Coordinator <br />Position to an Athletic Coordinator. Pfary suggests that <br />with the upcoming change at Edgewood and the reduction <br />available pool time, the need for a part-time Aquatics <br />Supervisor as a separate position has diminished. Mary <br />suggests that this position be revised to an Athletic <br />Coordinator position to assume responsibilities for <br />coordinating our various athletic programs with Mary <br />assuming responsibility for the coordination of the aquatics <br />activities. After reviewing this proposal and discussing it <br />with Mary in detail, I would have to agree that based upon <br />changes in our operations as a result of the change at <br />Edgewood, this modification would be appropriate. <br />I also endorse this change due to the fact that our various <br />athletic programs are experiencing substantial increases in <br />demand and enrollment thus requiring greater attention by <br />our staff to ensure that they are successful in every way. <br />The assignment of a part-time person to this area would <br />hopefully guarantee greater success in these programs. <br />It would be my hope that Mary and I could discuss this <br />proposal with the Council at the October to Agenda Session <br />answering any questions you might have and coming to a <br />conclusion regarding the future organization of the <br />department. <br />DFP/MJS <br />
