51 <br />Lf <br />.�f»> <br />MEMO TO: MAYOR AND CITY COUNCI <br />FROM: CLERK-ADMINISTRAT <br />DATE: OCTOBER 13, 1989 <br />SUBJECT: CITY COUNCIL MEETING AGENDAS <br />During my attendance at conferences and in meetings at the <br />City Halls of other cities, I am always looking at ways of <br />improving the way that the Citv operates in order to provide <br />better service to our residents. During my recent <br />attendance at the ICMA Conference in Des Moines I attended a <br />session on City Council agendas and conducting City Council <br />meetings where various formats for City Council agendas were <br />presented. <br />As a result of the information. I gathered at that meeting 1 <br />would like to propose a modification to our agendas which I <br />hope would organize them in a more efficient manner and <br />prove the convenience of use for members of the City Council <br />and the public and clear up some organizational difficulties <br />we have had with respect to placing special items on the <br />agenda in the past. Attached to this memorandum please find <br />a copy of how the October 9, 1989 agenda would have appeared <br />under the proposed new format with explanations where <br />appropriate. I would like to discuss the possiblity of our <br />organizing our agendas this way and also hear any other <br />ideas you might have for improving the way our agendas are <br />formatted. <br />DFP/MJS <br />
