Memo To :Mayor and City Council Members <br />From :Ric Minetor, Director of Public Works/City Engineer <br />Date :June 28, 1989 <br />Subject :Proposed Crosswalk on silver Lake Road <br />at Woodcrest Park <br />A resident han requester; a : rosswal!: across Silver Lake Road to <br />serve Woodcrest Park and the neighborhood to the west. Silver <br />Lake Road is a Ramsey County road; the County follows guidelines <br />for crosswalks. Normally, they prefer to see sidewalk or pathways <br />on each side of the road at the crosswalk. There are no sidewalks <br />along Silver Lake Road and the entrance to Woodcrest Park is off <br />Woodcrest to the east. <br />lie have 2 options: We could request the County to place the <br />crosswalk to align with Woodcrest Drive to the east realizing <br />that the pathway along Silver Lake Road is currently unimproved <br />and may require a slight variance from their policy. <br />Alternatively, we could request the crosswalk to align with <br />Woodcrest Drive to the west and we would need to construct a 4 <br />small bridge over the ditch on the east side of Silver Lake Road. <br />I recommend the first option. I further recommend we consider <br />providing an ag-lime pathway from the intersection with Woodcrest <br />to the west and the crosswalk location, this would be <br />approximately 200 feet in length. Material costs for this would <br />be approximately $150; labor and equipment costs would be <br />approximately $400. Costs for a small bridge would undoubtedly be <br />significantly higher. <br />4F' <br />
