Clerk -Administrator and City Council
Page 2
December 31, 1986
At the last Agenda Meeting, the following question was asked.
How deep will the water be in the pond during a one year and 100
year storm? During a one year, 24 hour, storm event, the depth
of water in the pond will be 3.3 feet provided the check valve is
operating properly and the pipe is not clogged. During a 100
year, 24 hour storm event, the depth of water in the pond will be
4.5 feet.
There are several ways to reduce the depth of water in the pond.
One way is to allow steeper side slopes on the pond.
The above calculations satisfy City Code requirements. The City
Code is silent in the areas of maximum water depth in the pond,
maximum side slope and location of pond (on separate lot or
easement). A pond is required by Rice Creek Watershed District
(RCWD) because the subdivision sire exceeds 5.0 acres. Rice
Creek Watershed district has approved the Developer's proposal.
ACTION REQUESTED: Staff looks forward to discussing this issue
with you on 10nday night.
SWT/bac
