MEMO TO: Mayor and City Council 13
FROM: Mary Saarlon, Directory
Parks, Recreation and Forestry
DATE: December 26, 1986
RE: 1987 Budget Changes
Due to the re -organization of staff in the Parks, Recreation and
Forestry Department, the 1987 '`judget will change in the areas of full-
time salaries, part-time salaries, pensions and capital outlay. Tile
adopted 1987 budget was written to include the then present staff.
Since that time, the re -organ izai; ion of staff has changed as shown
below:
1987 ADOPTED
Dir. of Parks, Rec. & Forestry
Rec./Ath. Supervisor
Aquatics Supervisor
Secretary
1987 PROPOSED
Dlr. of Parks, Rec. & Forestry
Administrative Assistant
The position of Aquatics Supervisor has been shifted to the part-time
fund because the joint powers agreement with New Brighton has been
discontinued as of December 31, 1986. For this reason, the position
will revert to the past part-time position. The 010,000 reimbursement
from New Brighton will not be collected. The duties of Recreation/
Athletic Supervisor and Secretary have combined into the two position
of Director and Administrative Assistant.
Tile savings difference between the adopted and proposed budget for
full-time salaries is $37,797.00. However the difference between the
adopted and proposed part-time salaries shows an increase of
$11,000.00 because of the addition of a Senior Citizen's/Trips
Coordinator and the transfer of the Aquatics Supervisor from full-
time to part-time status.
Because of the re -organization of staff, the pensions budget also will
show a $2,097.00 savings with the elimination of two full-time
(Recreation/Athletic Supervisor and Aquatics Supervisor) positions and
the addition of two part-time positions (Senior Coordinator and
Aquatics Supervisor).
