MEMO TO: MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
FROM: CLERK -ADMINISTRATOR
DATE: JANUARY 19, 1987 `
SUBJECT: OFFICIAL NEWPAPER PROPOSALS
Pursuant to the direction of the City Council, Staff submit-
ted a request to the New Brighton Bulletin, Minneapolis
Star and Tribune, St. Paul Dispatch and Pioneer Press, and
the Focus, serving the City of Mounds View and requested
proposals from then for their service as the City's Official
Newspaper. It was requested that each proposal include
three basic pieces of information, namely:
1. Full amount of circulation within the jurisdictional
boundaries of the City of Mounds View.
2. Rates charge for publication of official public
notices.
3. Number and names of reporters assigned to our
community for coverage of general news information.
Attached is a summary of proposals received from the New
Brighton Bulletin, St. Paul Dispatch, and Minneapolis Star
and Tribune as of January 13, 1987. Based on this informa-
tion, Staff would recommend that the New Brighton Bulletin
be reappointed as the City's Official Newspaper in consider-
ation of the fact that of the three proposers, they have the
largest circulation in the City, and provide the lowest rates
for publication of official notices.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff would recommend the reappointment of
the New Brighton Bulletin as the City's official Newspaper.
DFP/dmv
