POSITION ACCOUNTABILITY WRITE-UP <br />Position Title <br />Department <br />Accountable To <br />Public Works Foreman <br />Public Workp <br />(Mounds View) <br />Date: August, 1987 <br />Public Works Director/City Engineer <br />Primary Objective of Position <br />To oversee, under general direction, the day-to-day administra <br />tion of the city's Public Works programs in a manner which <br />ensures the desired level of maintenance consistent with the <br />Nome Rule Charter, City codes, council policies, and Federal/ <br />State regulations. <br />Major Areas of Accountability <br />Assists the Public Worke Director/City Engineer with the 1 <br />preparaLion of departmental goals and objectives and <br />annual budget for recommendation to the City Council in <br />order to estahish the desired level oft maintenance for the <br />City of Mounds View. <br />In consultation with the Public Works Director/City Engineer, 2 <br />plans and schedules approved Public Works projects in <br />each assigned area, e.g. water, sewer, streets, parks, etc., <br />to make the best use of available material and personnel. <br />- supervises public works maintenance personnel on a <br />daily basis to establish work assignments and schedules <br />in order to complete work in a timely and cost-effective <br />manner. <br />Oversees or personally performs training in the proper use 3 <br />of City equipment to minimize the possibility of damage <br />and/or downtime and ensures that an adequate number of <br />maintenance personnel are qualified to operate each piece <br />of equipment. <br />Recommends departmental safety regulations and operating 4 <br />procedures that are in Safetlaapplicable <br />and regula- <br />tions. <br />Minnesotaoccupational y and ilealthaws <br />Coordinates the maintenance of all City machinery and equip- 5 <br />ment and analyzes equipment needs. <br />- for budgeted Public Works vehicles and equipment 6 <br />purchases, prepares specifications, receives and <br />analyzes bids and recommends purchases. <br />
