v\W" • 1 <br />MEMO TO: MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />(s� FROM: CLERK -ADMINISTRATOR <br />DATE: SEPTEMBER 30, 1987 <br />SUBJECT: -MANAGEMENT TRAINING <br />Pursuant to your direction, I have begun the processing of <br />g--Uirinn catalogs and brochures from the various institutions <br />for higher education in the Melfopolitan Area to determine what <br />type of advanced management training is currently available. <br />Also, I have contacted various professional organizations who <br />havtheecertificte type availability and content moftany aprograms othey sdetermine to might offer. <br />In order for me to be able to respond to your directive and <br />ensure that staff members are receiving the individualized type <br />of: training you have identified as necessary, I would like to <br />take the opportunity during the October 5th Agenda Session to <br />discuss with you three basic questions. They are, <br />1) what conditions currently exist that lead you tn <br />believe additional management training for Department <br />Heads and supervisory personnel is necessary? <br />2) What employees or departments have you identified <br />as needing greater levels of training over other <br />employees or departments? <br />3) What do you specifically see as being the accomplish- <br />ments or results of this advanced training? <br />It would be my hope that once we have discussed these three <br />questions in detail that I would be able to develop a program <br />geared to address your concerns and, if necessary, individualize <br />programs by department or specific employees.
