'Mounds View City Council --': j January 26 1987 Regular Meeting �� b i Page Five -------------------------- !-Y1_------ Attorney Meyers reported a new judge will be assigned on the Highway 10 radiator case and it should be in court soon. lie recommended no further action be taken regarding this property until the case has been resolved in court, such as any requests for permits or zoning, and he asked that such requests be referred to him. Attorney Meyers asked the Council authorize action to begin the process of applying to MnDOT to allow the City to acquire the property that was formerly known as the George Jackson property. Motion/Second: Hankner/Quick to have Staff proceed with the application to MnDOT for the property known as the George Jackson property. 5 ayes 0 nays Councilmember Hankner reported she is the new liaison 15 to the Park and Rec Commission, and she had attended her first- Park and Rec Commission meeting last week. Councilmember Hankner reported the Senate Transporta- tion Committee will be meeting at 8 AM on January 27, to hold a hearing on legislation introduced by i Representative Knuth and Senator Novak. She stated she has spoken with the two of them about making a presentation to the Council regarding their bill, which would also allow the cable viewing audience an opportunity to hear them. It was agreed they should be invited to the February 9 Council meeting. Councilmember Hankner reported there will be a suicide awareness planning committee meeting on February 2, at 6:30 PM at Central High School, and Roger Taylor will be speaking to the parents of gifted students. Councilmember Quick had no -report. Councilmember Blanchard reported she had represented the City last week at the public service appreciation dinner at the Kraus Hartig VFW, where they had pre- sented a flag to the City. She added that Policeman Reed Krough had received a plaque naming him officer of the year. Councilmember Wuori reported she had attended her first Planning Commission meeting and found it very interesting. Motion/Second: Linke/Blanchard to reappoint Peg Mountin as Chairman of the Planning Commission for 1987.
