A <br />C <br />A <br />vj ` `v <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2167 <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />A RESOLUTION BY THE MOUNDS VIEW CITY COUNCIL OPPOSING THE <br />PLAN FOR CONSOLIDATION OF THE RAMSEY COUNTY COURT SYSTEM AND <br />SUPPORTING THE CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON IN ITS EFFORTS TO <br />CONTEST SAID CONSOLIDATION <br />WHEREAS, the Municipal Courts of Ramsey County were <br />consolidated in 1975 with the proviso that five suburban <br />courts would be available and convenient to the various <br />municipalities' Police Departments, prosecutors, witnesses <br />as well as members of the general public who become involved <br />in the judicial system; and <br />WHEREAS, that although the case load has increased <br />since 1975 the present court system and the local <br />communities have been capable of processing said cases in an <br />expeditious and efficient manner; and <br />WHEREAS, the Municipal and District Court judges have <br />merged in Ramsey County pursuant to law; and <br />WHEREAS, the newly merged bench has adopted a policy <br />of court consolidation which would eliminate the suburban <br />courts contrary to the 1975 law; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of New Brighton and other communi- <br />ties, wherein suburban courts are located, have objected to <br />said consolidation plans and are contemplating legal action <br />to prevent it. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED; that the City of <br />Mounds View opposes the plan for consolidation of the Ramsey <br />County Court System whereby the suburban courts are reduced <br />or eliminated; <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of Mounds View <br />supports the City of New Brighton and other communities in <br />their efforts to contest the proposed consolidation plan by <br />legal action if necessary. <br />Adopted this day of 1987. <br />(SEAL) _ <br />Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br />Te cl--Ad-in f n Cs t e,i <br />F <br />
