House fiction. nonfiction, and AV materials. <br />c. Provide informal browsing and lounge areas. <br />d. Provide physical and academic atmosphere for all persons <br />seeking reference materials and study space. <br />2. Special Provisions <br />a. The Librarian's office to be located near the Adult <br />Area. <br />b. Fiction (including PBs) shelved near the center of the <br />Adult Area and near the circulation desk. <br />c. The use of sound absorbing material including carpeting <br />is essential. <br />d. A functional and flexible design is necessary as space <br />use changes in the future. <br />e. To avoid inconvenience and confusion to patrons, the <br />ranges of shelving should follow a logical pattern <br />to enable a systematic shelving of the collection and a <br />logical numerical and alphabetical sequence of the �- <br />material. Grouping of ranqes should allow for seating of <br />either a formal or informal nature between blocks of <br />ranges to allow a reader easy access to a chair or table <br />and also to relieve the visual effect of too many <br />shelving ranges massed together. <br />3. Furniture and equipment <br />a. B PAC terminals <br />b. Tables/counters for 8 PAC terminals (both sitting and <br />standina) <br />c. Coffee table <br />d. Lamps <br />e. VCR <br />f. Microfilm/fiche machine <br />g. Audio cassette player <br />h. Record player <br />i. 6 informal lounge chairs <br />j. B 24"):30" carrels with chairs <br />k. 2-double study rooms @ 50 sq. ft. (Includes counters at <br />desk height with-2 chairs. Wirinq and cabling necessay <br />for computer terminals and AV equipment. Door should <br />have window for easy supervision.) <br />18 <br />
