Jam. 6
C `1q MEMO TO: MAYOR AND COUNCILMEMBERS
FROM: MARY SAARION, DIRECTOR.
PARKS, RECREATION AND FORESTRY
DATE: FEBRUARY 26, 1988
RE: PURCHASE OF PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT
Playground equipment was an item on the 1988 park capital
improvements plan. At the regular February Parks and Recreakion
Commission meeting members made a motion to recommend to the City
Council the approval to purchase Game Time equipment which is
currently on sale. The choice of colors is green posts and brown
planks. The sale cost is $8,755.00 plus freight not to exceed
$9,000.00 total. This is the amount budgeted for 1988 capital
improvements for this item to come out of the Park Dedication Fund
410-120-4705.
The park capital improvement plan for 1988 shows a schedule of new
playground equipment for Oakwood Par'. However, because of the
r unknown impact of the new Pinewood playground equipment, and without
wanting to duplicate facilities within such a short distance, the
Commission has decided to consider replacing Hillview Park play
equipment first. The Oakwood Park equipment purchase is scheduled
for 1989 and the type of equipment will be chosen after a need is
determined by the impact of the Pinewood play equipment.
RECOMMENDATION: To consider the approval to purchase "on -sale"
playground equipment which is budgeted for $9,000.00 including
freight with monies coming from '.he Park Dedication Fund 410-120-
4705.
