Mounds View City Council May 12, 2025 <br />Regular Meeting Page 2 <br /> <br />Mayor Lindstrom thanked Mr. Nielsen for his detailed presentation. 1 <br /> 2 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Meehlhause/Gunn. To accept the 2024 Audit Report as presented. 3 <br /> 4 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 5 <br /> 6 <br />B. May 18-24, 2025 Public Works Week - Proclamation. 7 <br /> 8 <br />Mayor Lindstrom read a proclamation in full for the record declaring May 18 through May 24, 9 <br />2025 to be Public Works Week in the City of Mounds View. 10 <br /> 11 <br />C. 2025 Mounds View Police Department Quarter 1 Report – Police Chief 12 <br />Zender. 13 <br /> 14 <br />Police Chief Zender discussed the Quarter 1 Report from the Mounds View Police Department. 15 <br />He reviewed the community outreach that occurred in January, February and March. He thanked 16 <br />everyone how participated in the Daddy Daughter Dance, along with the Polar Plunge. He 17 <br />commended Officer Olendorf for being recognized as the top DWI enforcer for the department. 18 <br />He reported CSO Overton signed a letter stating he will work for Mounds View after he finished 19 <br />his skills. He explained the department’s VCET officer was recognized by the DA for his excellent 20 <br />performance in his job. He commented on the shooting that occurred at Towns Edge. He discussed 21 <br />how productivity was up within the department even with the lower staffing level. He stated Flock 22 <br />continues to be a great deterrent for the community. He commented on the training his officers 23 <br />received so far this year. He explained his officers were working through the loss of K9’s Niko 24 <br />and Griz, but stated K9 Ace was doing great work for the community. He discussed how the 25 <br />League of Minnesota Cities reached out to him to showcase the department’s K9 program. Lastly, 26 <br />he noted May 11 through May 17 was National Police Week. 27 <br /> 28 <br /> 29 <br />Mayor Lindstrom commented on the number of views and reactions his post regarding K9 Griz 30 <br />has received. Police Chief Zender stated he was an amazing dog that will be dearly missed by the 31 <br />community. Further discussion ensued regarding the department’s K9 program. 32 <br /> 33 <br />Council Member Meehlhause stated he attended the nine mayors meeting today for Mayor 34 <br />Lindstrom and noted the Flock cameras were discussed. 35 <br /> 36 <br />Council Member Smith thanked the Mounds View Police Department for all of their efforts on 37 <br />behalf of the community. 38 <br /> 39 <br />7. PUBLIC COMMENT 40 <br /> 41 <br />Mayor Lindstrom encouraged the public to speak with kindness and respect when addressing the 42 <br />City Council during Public Comment. 43 <br /> 44 <br />Vince Meyer, 8380 Spring Lake Road, stated he met with City Administrator Zikmund last week 45 <br />to discuss the turn lanes on Ardan, 84th and 85th. He understood staff would be looking into this 46
