The Mounds View Vision <br />A Thriving Desirable Community <br /> <br />Item No: 8C <br />Meeting Date: June 9, 2025 <br />Type of Business: CB <br />City Administrator Review: _____ <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Don Peterson, Director of Public Works / Parks and Recreation <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 10101, Approving the Cost Proposal from <br />Cornerstone Concrete for the installation of the concrete slab for <br />the Fitness Court <br />Introduction: <br />Blue Cross & Blue Shield (BCBS) have partnered with Fitness Court – National Fitness <br />Campaign to make communities healthier via an “free” outdoor fitness court. Willmar, St. Cloud, <br />Shakopee, Moose Lake, Brooklyn Center and Minneapolis have all installed units. <br /> <br />BCBS provides $50,000 in grant funding towards the purchase and installation of the Court <br />along with $25,000 for local artists to add their time and talent. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br />On May 5, 2025, Council approved Resolution 10099 approving the purchase and installation of <br />the Fitness Court. The total cost for the Fitness Court, Studio and Art is $230,000 with BCBS <br />providing $75,000 in grant funds resulting in a final cost of $155,000. The City is responsible for <br />the cost/installation of the concrete slab for the course which was estimated to cost $25,000 to <br />$30,000. Staff received two proposals for the installation of the concrete pad: <br />D & S Concrete and Masonry $56,990.00. <br />Cornerstone Concrete $55,290.00 <br /> <br />Strategic Plan Strategy/Goal: <br />A progressive City that is a welcoming and desirable destination to all ages and cultures, who <br />seek progress through partnership, and a place where residents can live, work and play safely <br />and show pride in the community. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br />This item is not included in the 2025 budget and was included in the Budget Adjustment of <br />$185,000.00, approved on May 5, 2025, Resolution 10099. Funding from the Special Project <br />Budget, account 480-4360-7050. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends the Council approve the proposal from Cornerstone Concrete to install the <br />concrete pad for the Fitness Court at City Hall Park at a cost of $55,290.00.
