-ny,) f <br />MEMO TO: MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: CLERK -ADMINISTRATOR <br />DATE: MAY 18, 198 <br />SUBJECT: EMPLOYEE TRAIN <br />Councilmember Gary Quick recently requested a report from me <br />regarding the status of the City's Employee Training <br />Program. <br />In response to this request, besides listing those training <br />sessions that have been attended by City employees during <br />the first take <br />four months of this year, being <br />this opportunity to describe to you theethodrams <br />practiced by me in determining what types <br />prog <br />employees are required and/or allowed to attend. <br />At the time performance reviews were completed on our <br />non -unionized employees at the end of <br />1encouragedwitall <br />Department Heads to take the opportunityent <br />the <br />employees any ded training on performancedgoalsItandtobjectivesmduring <br />with the employee <br />1988 which should include attendance at some training <br />programs. With respect to the unionized members of our <br />staff, since mandatory performance reviews are not <br />undertaken, Police Department does conduct their own <br />�,. oices, the <br />performance review of indilice goalsfaPol <br />ndrobjectives <br />feasiblitY of developing performance <br />for each individual employee did not exist. As it relates to <br />specific departments and the employees withinudertatheir <br />ken during the <br />departments the following training <br />period of January 1, 1988 through May 1, 1988. <br />1.
