MEMO TO: MAYOR AND CITY COUN <br />4 FROM: CLERK -ADMINISTRATOR <br />DATE: JUNE 9, 1988 <br />SUBJECT: SERVICING OF THE CITY 'IALL'S HEATING SYSTEV <br />Pursuant to earlier direction of the City Council, staff has <br />obtained proposals from two firms for the basic servicing of <br />the City Hall's heating system as proposed by our consulting <br />engineers. <br />The two quotes are proposals from Faircon Service of <br />Roseville in the amount of $960.00 and Harris Mechanical <br />Contracting Company of St. Paul in the amount of $2,945.00 <br />for the identical items. The items are as follows: <br />1. Balance all air defusers. <br />2. Calibrate all pneumatic temperature controls <br />and report necessary repairs. <br />3. Check operation of boiler water temperature reset <br />control and report repairs necessary. <br />p� 4. Check all boiler safety and operating controls <br />and report necessary repairs. <br />5. Clean all boilers. <br />6. Properly wire all controls Der existing code. <br />7. Change starter for water circulating pump to _ <br />on -off operation. <br />In both cases, the bidders indicated that their fee would to <br />for cleaning the system, resetting controls and defusers, <br />and checking operations. Any necessary repairs identified <br />during that work would be undertaken at an additional <br />charge. <br />Staff has checked the qualifications of both bidders and has <br />found both to be equally qualified to accomplish the work <br />necessary on our heating system. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends the Council approv:. the proposai of Faircon <br />Service for the initial cleaning, maintenance and checking <br />of our heating system and undertaking any repairs determined <br />to be necessary during the checking of the system. <br />DFP,/mjs <br />
