MEMO T0: MAYOR AND CITY COUNCILREHBERS
FROM: MARY SAARION, DIRECTOR 1
PARKS, RECREATION AND FORESTRY 1
DATE: MAY 20, 1988
SUBJECT: PUBLIC HEARING REQUEST FOR WETLANDS AMENDMENT
OP GREENFIELD PARK
f I wish to request '',at a hearing date be set for Monday, June 27, for the
I amendment of Greenfield Park (Hillview Rd. and
Quincy St.) from a
wetland to non-wetlando Status. In April, 1988, Mr. Tom Peterson,dRamseyd
County Soil and Water Conservation, visited the site and reported that the
site does not have wetlsnd characteristics and should not be designated as
wetlands. Mr. Peterson agreed that leveling the parkland with availaLle fill
would not impact any wetlands.
I
Since that time, the City's street sweepings have been stockpiled on the
- parks grassy buffer area, awaiting grading. Because of its unsightliness, staff current
wishes to request the council to schedule a hearing to
declare the park area as non -wetlands. Then the City could proceed to grade
the Site acd seed as goon as possible.
Mr. Peterson plans to re -survey the City and provide a new, current wetlands
map. Since a tioie-line for this project is not determined, staff recommends
a special hearing to amend the wetland designation of Greenfield Park (on the
corner of Hillview and Quiucy) so that development can proceed.
RECOMM- L_ N_ D_ A: To request that the Mayor and Council set a hearing to
amend the wetland boundary of Greenfield Park, to be held June 27 at 7:15
P.M.
i
i MS/SL
1
i
1
