Resolution 10086, Authorizing the Purchase of One Dual Purpose Police K9 <br /> 30 and to Attend the TAC 21 Patrol Dog Certification Training to Replace K9 <br /> 31 Ace who is being Medically Retired. <br /> 32 <br /> 33 Police Chief Zender requested the Council authorize the purchase of one dual purpose Police K9 <br /> 34 and to attend the TAC 21 Patrol Dog Certification Training to replace K9 Ace who is being <br /> 35 medically retired. He explained K9 Ace was purchased and trained in the spring of 2022. He <br /> 36 reported after suffering an elbow injury, it was recommended K9 Ace be medically retired this fall <br /> 37 and that a new K9 be pursued. He discussed the costs associated with the new K9 noting this K9 <br /> 38 would be trained for both drugs and apprehension. <br /> 39 <br /> 40 Council Member Gunn asked who would be the new K9 handler. Police Chief Zender reported he <br /> 41 offered this position to Officer Ause and he was considering this. <br /> 42 <br /> 43 Further discussion ensued regarding K9 Ace being used for community outreach after his <br /> 44 retirement. <br /> 45 <br /> 46 MOTION/SECOND: Meehlhause/Gunn.
