Item No: 08J
MOUNDS VIEW Meeting Date:07/14/2025
Type of Business: Council Business
Administrator Review:
City of Mounds View Staff Report
To: Honorable Mayor and City Council
From: Ben Zender, Chief of Police
Item Title/Subject: Resolution 10125, Approving the Purchase of Cloud Storage
and Licensing for (8) 4RE In-Car Camera Systems and (4)
Vista Body Worn Cameras.
Introduction:
The Police Department has begun to upgrade our in-car camera systems and our body
worn cameras. With that said, we still need to support the old 4RE in-car camera
systems and the Vista body worn camera systems we are still using.
Discussion:
The department is requesting the purchase of cloud storage and licensing for (8) 4RE
In-Car Camera Systems and (4) Vista Body Worn Cameras. We recently purchased (2)
M500 in-car camera systems and (13) V700 body worn cameras under the current and
new Motorola contract. With that said, we still need to purchase cloud storage and
licensing to support the old 4RE in-car camera systems and the Vista body worn
cameras that we currently are using. The 4RE in-car camera systems are being phased
out as we build new squad cars and replace the 4RE in-car camera system with the
new M500 in-car camera system. Administration and investigators are still using the old
Vista cameras but they are also being phased out by Motorola.
The current unlimited cloud storage cost is $895 for each (8) 4RE in-car camera system
per year and $695 for each (4) Vista body worn cameras per year.
The total purchasing cost of cloud storage and licensing for (8) 4RE in-car camera
systems and (4) Vista body worn cameras for the renewal term of July 4, 2025-July 3,
2026 costs approximately $9,940 being paid from Account 480-4200-3030 (2023 Public
Safety Aid money).
Recommendation:
Staff recommends authorizing the purchase of cloud storage and licensing for (8) 4RE
In-car camera systems and (4) Vista body worn cameras.
Respectfully Submitted,
Ben Zender
Chief of Police
