Item No. 6A <br />MOUNDS VIEW <br />PARKS & RE CREATION <br />MEMORANDUM <br />To: Parks & Recreation & Forestry Commissioners <br />From: Andy Thomas — Parks & Recreation Superintendent <br />Date: August 281h, 2025 <br />RE: Parks & Recreation Staff Report <br />The following is a synopsis of recent activities and events of the Parks & Recreation Department. <br />Buildings & Operations <br />• Community Center will be closed September 11t for Labor Day and the 2"d and 3rd for <br />maintenance (carpet cleaning/gym resurfacing, etc.) <br />• Community Center hours return to normal September 4th 8am — 8pm Monday — Saturday. <br />Programs <br />• Explore More <br />o Finished with 1000 more camper days than 2024 for a 163% increase. <br />• Fall Youth Leagues start next week. 100 participants in soccer. <br />• All other youth/adult programs will start mid -September/ early October <br />Upcoming Events <br />• Community Resource Fair September 13th <br />• Puzzle Palooza September 21 St <br />• Community Bonfire October 2"d <br />• Fall Festival October 23rd <br />o Now accepting sponsors for the trick or treat street. Businesses or <br />organizations can decorate a door, provide candy and volunteers. <br />Festival/Penny Carnival <br />Festival and Penny Carnival were moved to the Community Center due to the inclement <br />weather. Kid crafter fair and Penny Carnival was still well attended even with the switch. <br />11Page <br />
