Mounds View City Council December 1, 2025 <br />Truth in Taxation Meeting Page 4 <br /> <br /> 1 <br />Council Member Gunn explained the preliminary levy was set at 9% and noted this amount could 2 <br />go down. She reported the Council has been working to further refine expenditures in order to 3 <br />bring in the final levy below 9%. 4 <br /> 5 <br />Mayor Lindstrom reported the Council would be further discussing the levy and budget at the 6 <br />worksession meeting following the Truth in Taxation meeting and noted the final levy would be 7 <br />approved by the City Council on Tuesday, December 9. 8 <br /> 9 <br />Council Member Meehlhause reported the State Auditor recommends the City maintain a fund 10 <br />balance of 35% to 50% of the general fund budget. He stated the reason for this was because the 11 <br />City was only paid property taxes twice a year. He noted the City currently has a 50% fund balance. 12 <br /> 13 <br />Mayor Lindstrom suggested the City hold a budget town hall in October of each year, if there was 14 <br />enough interest from the public. 15 <br /> 16 <br />Mr. Sabur stated he was born and raised in Mounds View and chose to purchase a home in Mounds 17 <br />View with his own family. He explained this was a tough time for families and seniors. 18 <br /> 19 <br />Mayor Lindstrom closed the Truth in Taxation Public Hearing at 7:10 p.m. 20 <br /> 21 <br />Council Member Gunn encouraged the public to view the SBM Fire parade on Tuesday, December 22 <br />2. 23 <br /> 24 <br />Mayor Lindstrom invited the public to participate in the community meal which would be held on 25 <br />Monday, December 8 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Mermaid. 26 <br /> 27 <br />Mayor Lindstrom reported the tree lighting ceremony would be held on Friday, December 5 from 28 <br />4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at City Hall. 29 <br /> 30 <br />Mayor Lindstrom stated there would be a town hall meeting at City Hall on Saturday, December 31 <br />6 with the Attorney General and parents from Annunciation where the topic of gun violence will 32 <br />be discussed. 33 <br /> 34 <br />Mayor Lindstrom indicated there would be a food distribution at the Community Center on 35 <br />Sunday, December 7 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. 36 <br /> 37 <br />6. Next Council Work Session: Monday, December 1, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. 38 <br />Next Council Meeting: Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. 39
