Item No: 05C <br />MOU-NDS <br />�TL'�AT Meeting Date: January 5, 2026 <br />m_ Type of Business: Council Business <br />Administrator Review: <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Nyle Zikmund, City Administrator <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 10193, Approving the 2026 City Council Meeting Dates <br />Introduction <br />The City Council approves a Council meeting schedule annually. <br />Discussion <br />Based on the Council's historical schedule of conducting work sessions on the first Monday of <br />each month and regular Council meetings on the second and fourth Mondays of each month, <br />attached is a proposed list of meeting dates for 2026 (Exhibit A). Also included are EDA meetings, <br />which are typically held just prior to the regular Council meetings. <br />The following legal holidays fall on dates that would otherwise be considered meeting dates: <br />September 7 (Labor Day) is a work session and May 25 (Memorial Day) and October 12 <br />(Columbus/Indigenous People's Day) are regular Council Meetings. Staff is proposing Tuesday, <br />September 8 for the work session and Tuesday, May 26 and Tuesday, October 13 for the <br />regular Council meetings. <br />In addition, Staff is proposing that the December 28 regular meeting be cancelled due to the <br />Christmas holiday. <br />The special Council meeting on January 5, prior to the work session, is for selecting the acting <br />Mayor, Treasurer and the Official Newspaper and Depositories; for appointing City Council <br />Members and City Staff as Representatives for City Commissions and other Organizations; and <br />for any other business the Council deems appropriate for this special meeting. (This meeting <br />has already taken place). <br />In addition, we need to discuss when to schedule the Council/Staff budget retreat and the <br />Parks/Recreation/Community Center retreat and the City Council/Charter Commission joint <br />meeting. <br />Strategic Plan Strategy/Goal: N/A <br />Financial Impact: None <br />Recommendation: Staff recommends approval of Resolution 10193 approving the 2026 City <br />Council Meeting Dates as shown in Exhibit A with the additional retreats and meeting dates as <br />discussed by Council added. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />Nyle Zikmund <br />The Mounds View Vision <br />A Thriving Desirable Community <br />
