Item No. 6A <br />PARKS & RECREATION <br />MEMORANDUM <br />To: Parks & Recreation & Forestry Commissioners <br />From Andy Thomas — Parks & Recreation Superintendent <br />Date: November 20th, 2025 <br />RE: Parks & Recreation Staff Report <br />The following is a synopsis of recent activities and events of the Parks & Recreation Department. <br />Building and Operations <br />• Open positions <br />o Ice Rink attendant and Front Desk staff <br />• New leg press in the fitness center. <br />Programs <br />Winter Brochure will come out at the end of the month. <br />North Suburban Holiday Light Map is back for 2025! Partnership with New Brighton, Mounds <br />View, Little Canada, Arden Hills, Roseville and Columbia Heights. See Facebook or the <br />website for the link to sign up. <br />Youth Programs <br />o Parent's Night Out — Enjoy a night out while your kids have a great time. <br />• Once a month until May. <br />o That Girl Studio — New program starting in January for girls 12-17 years old. Focus <br />on fun crafts and creating content. <br />o Letters to Santa — There will be a special mailbox at the Community Center. Kids can <br />write a letter to Santa and get a letter in return. Registration required. <br />o Thanksgiving 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament — November 24th <br />o Birthday Party Packages starting in 2026 — Multiple different packages available. <br />Adult and Senior Programs <br />o Silver Ukes — December 8th <br />o Coffee and Canvas — First Thursday of every month. <br />o Adult Volleyball league — Winter starts January 12. Mounds View teams are full. <br />o Pickleball has returned for the winter. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays <br />8am-11 am. <br />Rentals <br />• Gym <br />o Centennial Basketball Association M-W evenings. <br />o Lots of interest in additional volleyball rentals. Trying to balance rentals and open <br />gym availability. <br />o Most Sundays rented in November and December. <br />• Event Center <br />o 2026 is starting to fill up. Half Saturdays are booked and only a few Summer dates <br />remain. <br />11Page <br />
